Why is it that I only seem to get back home for 911 calls? I really need to do something about that.

As some of you may know, my sister Penney Michas passed away on July 31. She was a loving person and left us way too soon. The picture above was one that was displayed at her memorial service. I love it since it shows her so full of life. We will all miss you Penny. My brother-in law Sal has a very touching post on his blog at Sal Scribblings: Loss
I received the news from my brother Coy and high tailed it out to Indiana. Now my family can't seem to let me deal with just one event at a time so my brother Richard decided it was a good time to have a heart attack as well. I had planned on staying out there for a week and it was a good thing I did. I was able to help Rich and his wife while he under went angioplasty and settled him back in at his home afterwards. He has some major lifestyle changing to do but will be fine. Thank the powers that be my childhood best friend is the head of the cath lab at the hospital my brother was sent to. He had the best room in the place complete with a flat panel TV. I can't say enough about the doctors, nurses and staff at Dyer hospital (I know that isn't it's real name but it will always be called that to me.)
Of course Northwest Indiana was experiencing a heat wave combined with some of the nastiest thunder storms the majority of the time I was there. The county fair was going on but I never made it there. Darn, no tracker pulls or pig races for me.

The one big bright spot was that I finally got to see Coy and Sal. With all the sorrow and worry I was dealing with they were a godsend. I already loved them both but now after spending just that short time with them they are etched in my heart forever. Poor Sal had to put up with all our mid-west quirks but hey the biscuits and gravy and country ham are darn good aren't they Sal? I have a funny feeling we could get into a lot of trouble together if I ever get my tail out to California.
Any way I am back home now and life goes on. Katie is in Florida visiting her friend Vinny who just moved there with his family. Happy birthday Kate and stay out of trouble. Oh and no, I haven't feed Maddy to the snake......yet......... Time for bed so take care all and hug your loved ones. Time is too short on this earth and hugs are too few.

Welcome to the blogosphere! I have to admit that was the sweetest tasting ham ever. We were both so glad to be able to spend time with you. Next time we'll do it without having lost a loved one. Very glad to hear Richard got the VIP treatment. He and his wife are really fantastic people.
